MSG Jerry Amoury hails from Leawood, KS. After completing a master’s degree in trombone performance at the University of Texas at Austin, Amoury won a position with the United States Military Academy Band at West Point, NY in 1989. In 1995 he joined the ranks of The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own”. He has performed as soloist with the U.S. Army Concert Band, Blues and Brass Band, as well as a featured guest soloist with a number of trombone ensembles at the Army Band’s Eastern Trombone Workshop. As a freelance musician, Amoury has performed with many groups throughout the DC area to include the Annapolis Symphony, Maryland Symphony, Alexandria Symphony, The Concert Artists of Baltimore and the Cathedral Choral Society Orchestra. In addition, Amoury is a member of the Capitol Bones, one of the preeminent jazz trombone ensembles worldwide. His teachers include Steve Norrell, bass trombonist with the New York Metropolitan Orchestra, Michael Powell, member of the American Brass Quintet and David Fedderly, tubist with the Baltimore Symphony.
