MSG Tommy Richard Lee (“Rick”) entered the U.S. Army Band in 1999 after completing his B.M. at the University of Georgia; M.M. and Artist’s Diplomas from Yale University. A frequent performer in New York City, Rick played in numerous Broadway productions. He was chosen as principal horn for the Hofer Symphoniker in Hof, Germany, until his entry into Pershing’s Own. Lee plays horn in the U.S. Army Brass Quintet, giving performances at the White House, the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon and countless other venues throughout the National Capitol Region. The Brass Quintet has performed internationally in Moscow and St. Petersburg with the Russian National Orchestra and their own elite brass quintet and most recently provided musical support for the reopening of the U.S. Embassy in Havana, Cuba. Lee serves as Section Leader for the French horn section of the U.S. Army Ceremonial Band. Lee also performs regularly at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Washington National Cathedral, Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, the National Gallery of Art, and numerous other venues in the greater Washington area. He has performed musicals at the National Theater, Ford’s Theater, Arena Stage, and Signature Theater since his move to Washington. In addition, he frequently joins the Washington Concert Opera, Choral Arts Society of Washington, and countless other regional orchestras.
