MSG Scott Weinhold is the Chief Plans Coordinator for The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in Washington, DC. Prior to becoming the band’s lead logistics planner in 2016, Weinhold played saxophone in all of the primary instrumental ensembles since joining the Army Band in 2001. Prior to joining the Army, he was on the road with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Other performance experience includes working on cruises in Europe and the Mediterranean, touring with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and performances with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, The Guy Lombardo Orchestra, and the Blue Wisp Big Band in Cincinnati, OH. Weinhold has studied jazz with Nick Brignola, Rick VanMatre, Phil Degreg, Pat Harbison, and David Baker. As an educator, Weinhold teaches at Catholic University and runs an after school jazz program at McLean High School in McLean, VA. He has performed and taught at Indiana State University, Terre Haute, IN, and Miami University, Oxford, OH. Weinhold also taught music in the Cincinnati Public School System. Weinhold has earned degrees from the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY (Bachelor of Science in Music Education), and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (Master of Music in Saxophone Performance). He also spent one year at Indiana University working towards another graduate degree in Jazz Studies.
