Joseph Lovinsky came to The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" in December of 1995 from The U.S. Army Field Band where he served as Principal Horn and was the featured soloist on numerous concert tours throughout the United States. MSG Lovinsky is currently a member of The U.S. Army Concert Band, Orchestra, and The U.S. Army Brass Quintet. His teachers have included James Chambers, Myron Bloom, Jerome Ashby, Robert Watt, and Dr Philip Paul. Before joining the Army, MSG Lovinsky served as Principal Horn and frequent soloist with numerous orchestras including the National Symphony Orchestra of the Dominican Republic, Maryland Symphony, Miami City Ballet Orchestra, and the Brooklyn Philharmonic (Brooklyn, NY), performing under the direction of such notable conductors as Leonard Bernstein, Zubin Mehta, Eugene Ormandy, Elizabeth Schultz, Leonard Slatkin, and Barry Tuckwell. MSG Lovinsky is also a part time faculty member at Howard University in Washington DC.
