MSG Lane S. Shioji is a native of El Paso, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from Baylor University, and a Master of Music degree and Performer's Certificate from Northwestern University. Shioji was a student of Robert Marcellus, Clark Brody, Steve Barta, and Richard Shanley.

Shioji began his military service in 1992 with the United States Army Field Band and in 1996 joined the U.S. Army Band, “Pershing’s Own”. Shioji was selected to be a part of the 2009 Armed Forces Inaugural Committee and the 2013 Inaugural Joint Task Force. He has played with the Chicago Civic Orchestra, Waco Symphony Orchestra, East Texas Symphony Orchestra, Irving Symphony Orchestra, and the American Waterways Wind Orchestra. Solo experiences include performances with the U.S Army Band “Pershing’s Own”, U.S. Army Field Band, the Landon Symphonette, and the El Paso Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he was awarded First Prize in the El Paso Symphony Guild “Young Artist Concerto Competition” and the Pegasus College Music Student Competition.
