SFC Krista Moebius Smith, a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, received her bachelor’s degree with distinction from Indiana University where she studied with Henryk Kowalsky. From there she earned a Master of Music degree at The Cleveland Institute of Music while studying with David Updegraff and participating in the Intensive String Quartet Seminar under Peter Salaf and the Cavani Quartet. SFC Smith has performed with the Spoleto Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the National Orchestral Institute, the Kent Blossom Festival, the Akron Symphony, the Canton Symphony, the Indianapolis Symphony, and the Eclipse Chamber Orchestra.

Since joining The U.S. Army Strings in 1998, SFC Smith has been a featured soloist with The U.S. Army Orchestra and The U.S. Army Concert Band as well as on numerous chamber music recitals. Additionally, Krista serves as Co-Principal Second Violin in The U.S. Army Orchestra as well as the coordinator of The U.S. Army Orchestra Young Artist Competition. She resides in Vienna, Virginia, with her husband Ted, and sons Calvin, Henry, and Oliver.
