Spirit of America is a patriotic, live-action show presented by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington. Performed by more than 400 soldiers of the U.S. Army’s elite ceremonial units, the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), and The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” this free show features traditional and modern music, disciplined drill, and historical narrative as Soldiers recap the heritage of our country in an inspiring and entertaining performance.
Presented on behalf of the United States Army, Spirit of America is one of the Army’s largest community outreach programs and is designed to increase awareness of the Army’s rich heritage and showcase its premier ceremonial units. The history of the nation will come to life through historical reenactments, musical entertainment and precision military drill.
Historical accounts, taken directly from Soldiers’ letters and diaries, provide the story line for this powerful drama, designed to entertain while presenting the history and development of the U.S. Army from its origins through the wars, conflicts and missions that have molded the Army and the nation.
The U.S. Army Military District of Washington (MDW) is happy to present the 2016 Spirit of America in September in Maine (Sept 9-10); Connecticut (Sept 16-17); and Pennsylvania (Sept 23-24). Spirit of America performances are open to the public and admission is FREE! See below for venue-specific ticketing info.
