The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” is the Army’s premier musical organization, located 5 minutes from downtown Washington, DC.

Providing a musical backdrop for many of the country’s most notable events, The United States Army Concert Band has a worldwide reputation for extraordinary musicianship. The musicians in this elite ensemble have been trained at some of the most prestigious conservatories and universities in the country. The group has performed in such notable concert venues as the Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, and Hollywood Bowl, as well as the White House, the U.S. Capitol, and other venues throughout the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. The Concert Band often appears at national and international music events. Members of the Concert Band often appear with other elements of Pershing’s Own, and have opportunities throughout the year to perform as featured soloists and recitalists. In addition, the Concert Band supports ceremonies in Arlington National Cemetery and throughout the National Capital Region.

Military benefits include medical and dental care; 30-days paid vacation each year; a permanent assignment to Fort Myer, VA; educational benefits such as the College Loan Repayment Program (up to $65,000). Annual starting salary for a Staff Sergeant is: $51,000 (no dependents) and $58,000(w/dependents).

Auditions

Auditions will be held at the home of The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own”, Brucker Hall, 400 Mc Nair Road, Fort Myer, Virginia 22211-1306. All applicants must have U.S. citizenship due to a security clearance requirement.

Anyone offered a position will be expected to pass the Army’s physical examination and meet other standards required to enlist in the armed forces. Anyone accepting a position must enlist and begin Initial Entry Training (IET), formerly known as Basic Combat Training, prior to his/her 42nd birthday.

The winner of this position will be eligible to participate in an internal audition for The U.S. Army Brass Quintet to be held on a date to be determined. This audition will be held at Fort Myer, Virginia. Travel and lodging for the quintet audition will be at the candidate’s own expense. The audition will be a dual position allowing the opportunity to serve in both the Concert Band and the Brass Quintet. The Brass Quintet audition is optional for the winner of the Concert Band position and participation/non-participation will not affect the results of the Concert Band audition. Brass Quintet audition repertoire will be available upon request.
