Vacancy - Low Bass Vocalist - The U.S. Army Voices

Application Deadline: May 24, 2018
Audition Date: July 24, 2018

The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” the U.S. Army’s premier musical organization, announces a vacancy for LOW BASS VOCALIST with The U.S. Army Voices.

The U.S. Army Voices provide musical support to the nation’s leadership and entertain a wide variety of audiences with choral and patriotic music, from the intimate setting of a State Dinner, to the floor show of international military tattoos, and the grand stage of major concert halls around the world.

Selected for their musical versatility and showmanship, this well-blended group of vocalists combine their talents with an accomplished piano accompanist to present a variety of styles. They add finesse to classical chamber pieces, belt out top-40 hits, and croon music from the great American Songbook as well as the show tunes of Broadway. They add their own special sound to each of these styles and can combine their voices to replicate the timeless sound of The Andrews Sisters as well as reverently perform The Star Spangled Banner and other well-known patriotic show pieces in four-part harmony.

Military benefits include medical and dental care; 30-days paid vacation each year; permanent assignment to Fort Myer, and educational benefits such as military Tuition Assistance and the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill.

All applicants must have U.S. citizenship due to a security clearance requirement. All invited applicants will be given instructions to coordinate pre-screening with their regional Military Entrance Processing Station to ensure they meet entrance requirements for enlistment in The U.S. Army prior to attending the live audition. Individuals who are offered the position following the live audition must enlist and begin Basic Combat Training prior to their 35th birthday.

A bachelor’s degree in music is preferred as the position requires superior musicianship. This bass will provide the anchor for the rest of the ensemble through close harmonies in 5-8 part harmony. Both the ensemble and soloists from the roster are frequently needed for performances with the Concert Band, Army Strings, Army Blues and the Army Chorus.

Applicants must demonstrate strong skills in the following areas:

  • Solo and ensemble performance
