James Fantz hails from Texas and joined the Army Ground Forces Band at Ft. McPherson, Georgia, in 1989. He became a member of The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" in 1996, first as a member of the Ceremonial Band and Herald Trumpets and later joined the Concert Band in 1999. He has a B.S. in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College and a M.M. in orchestral performance from Georgia State University. Before college he proudly graduated from the Houston School for the Performing and Visual Arts and freely admits "Everything I needed to know about music, I learned in High School." He resides in Springfield, Virginia, with his wife and two children and enjoys spending time at the local Little League as a volunteer umpire.
