Sergeant Major Michael Jury joined The United States Army Band "Pershing's Own" in 1999 as a trumpet player and bugler in The U.S. Army Ceremonial Band. He has performed Taps over 3500 times at funeral services for fallen Soldiers in Arlington National Cemetery, and for visiting world leaders at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Other highlights include the Inaugurations of President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama, the State Funerals of former Presidents Reagan and Ford, the arrival of the Queen of England, and the Norwegian International Military Tattoo.

In 2013 SGM Jury assumed the duties of Operations NCO, and was named the Operations NCO-in-charge in 2014 and Operations Sergeant Major in 2016. During his tenure in operations he managed the unit’s musical support of over 6000 missions annually including the Presidential Inaugural of Donald Trump, the historic re-opening of the U.S. Embassy in Havana, Cuba, and numerous events in support of the most senior leaders in the U.S. Government, Department of Defense, and the Department of the Army.

Originally from Grand Ledge, Michigan, SGM Jury earned a Bachelors in Music Performance Degree from The University of Michigan in 1997, and a Masters Degree in Music Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester in 1999. His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters and the Army Achievement Medal with three oak clusters. He currently resides in Springfield, VA with his wife, and fellow Army Band member, Master Sergeant Amanda Jury, and their two daughters, Emma and Clara.
