Biography

SSG Chance Stine comes from Madison, WI, where he grew up in a very musical home. An active performer and teacher, Stine keeps a diverse career which finds him employed on both the classical and jazz fronts, in addition to multiple woodwind work. Stine earned a BM in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Michigan, where he studied classical saxophone with Dr. Timothy McAllister and jazz with Dr. Andrew Bishop, and an MM in Saxophone Performance at the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied classical saxophone with Dr. Stephen Page and jazz with Dr. John Mills. Stine has performed with many orchestras, bands, classical ensembles, and jazz artists across America, such as the New World Symphony, Academy Festival Orchestra at the Music Academy of the West, Austin Symphony Orchestra, Jackson Symphony Orchestra, Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra, University of Michigan Symphony Band, University of Texas Wind Ensemble, Allen Vizzutti, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, and Manhattan Transfer. Stine has received many awards for his playing, including 1st prize in the Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition, national MTNA finalist, and others. When not working, Stine can be found reading, hiking, and avidly supporting Wisconsin sports.
