Biography

SSG Chelsea Orr joined "Pershing's Own" in July 2020. A native Texan, Orr holds degrees from Baylor University and Southern Methodist University and is currently finishing a DMA at the University of Texas at Austin. Orr is an award-winning soloist and chamber musician, competing in the Eric Aubier Competition in Rouen, France (2017), being selected a finalist numerous times as a soloist/ensemble member at the National Trumpet Competition (2009-2015), as well as competing in the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition (2015). As an active performer and freelancer, she has played with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and Austin Symphony Orchestra, in addition to sharing the stage with recording artists Adele, Ben Folds, and Idina Menzel. Orr has also held teaching/performing residencies at the Shanghai American School in Shanghai, China (December 2015) and the Aspen Music School and Festival (2016-2017). Her primary teachers include Wiff Rudd, Tom Booth, Ryan Anthony, Ray Sasaki, Marie Speziale, Billy Hunter, Michael Martin, and David Hickman.
