Biography

Imani Mchunu Grosvenor has enjoyed performing opera, musical theatre, and concert works in Europe and North America. Notable performances include Mary (Highway1), Emmie (Albert Herring), Laetitia (The Old Maid & the Thief), Patience (Patience), Sarah (Ragtime), and Rapunzel (Into the Woods). As an actor, Imani performed with the U-M CRLT Players where she used theatrical case studies and participated in discussions presenting challenging scenarios involving race, gender, and social class. In addition to her experience onstage, completed a year-long fellowship consulting for nonprofits, advocated for more inclusive revitalization initiatives, and helped raise over $12,000 for organizations serving inner city youth. Recognizing the importance of representation in higher ed as it creates an access point to develop a diverse student body within the music community, Imani volunteered with Future U. & Michigan Youth Ensembles leading college workshops for artistic middle school students.
