Biography

SSG Jacob Wiggins joined the The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" horn section in November of 2020. Originally from Baton Rouge, Wiggins was raised in Houston and graduated from the University of Houston in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Music Performance. He continued his studies in Pittsburgh at Duquesne University, where he earned an Artist Diploma in 2020. Prior to joining The U.S. Army Band, Jacob held the Second Horn position with the Canton Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, Wiggins has worked with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony, and Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra.

In the summers, Wiggins studied at the Aspen Music Festival and School, the Brevard Music Center, and the Texas Music Festival. His principal teachers include Mark Houghton, Zachary Smith, Elizabeth Freimuth, Robert Johnson, and Gavin Reed.
