Biography

SFC John Powlison has been playing the trumpet since the age of 10. A graduate of Cumberland Valley High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he holds a bachelor's degree in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree from The Florida State University, where he served as a graduate assistant. Prior to joining "Pershing's Own," Powlison was pursuing post-master's degree credits at the University of Michigan, while working as a graduate teaching assistant and playing second trumpet with the Michigan Faculty Brass Quintet. His principal teachers are William Stowman, Kevin Eisensmith, Christopher Moore, and William Campbell.
