Summer Concerts

FRIDAY NIGHTS 8PM | SUNSETS WITH A SOUNDTRACK SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

West Side of the U.S. Capitol, Washington, DC

The U.S. Army Band continues its annual tradition of presenting free concerts of Classical Pops, Big Band, Rock, and Patriotic music on the West Side of the U.S. Capitol with the series we like to call: Sunsets with a Soundtrack. The public will be allowed to place lawn chairs on the stone terrace in front of the band on the West Side of the Capitol, and on the West Lawn (when available). Food is permitted; however, NO alcohol or glass bottles are allowed.

Dates

Concerts are weekly on Fridays at 8:00 p.m. from June 1 through August 31.

  • Friday, June 1 - The U.S. Army Concert Band
  • Friday, June 8 - The U.S. Army Concert Band
  • Friday, June 15 - The U.S. Army Concert Band and Army Voices
  • Friday, June 22 - The U.S. Army Concert Band
  • Friday, July 13 - The U.S. Army Concert Band
  • Friday, July 20 - The U.S. Army Concert Band
  • Friday, July 27- The U.S. Army Band Downrange
  • Friday, August 3 - The U.S. Army Concert Band
  • Friday, August 10 - The U.S. Army Blues
  • Friday, August 24 - The U.S. Army Blues Latin Ensemble
  • Friday, August 31 - The U.S. Army Band Country Roads

These performances are FREE and no tickets are required; however, group reservations, for groups of 15+ are recommended. Please email Jen Maly: jennifer.s.maly.civ@mail.mil to make a group reservation.

Directions

Our Sunsets with a Soundtrack concerts are located on the West Side of the U.S. Capitol.

Seating

The public will be allowed to place lawn chairs on the stone terrace in front of the band on the West Side of the Capitol, and on the West Lawn (when available). Food is permitted; however, NO alcohol or glass bottles are allowed.

Driving

Free public parking is available in the evenings next the Capitol Reflecting Pool at the end of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Metro

There are three subway stops found within walking distance of the Capitol:

  • Union Station - Located at First Street, NW, and Massachusetts Avenue.
  • Capitol South - Located at First Street between C and D Streets, SE.
  • Federal Center, SW - Located at the southwest corner of Third and D Streets, SW.
