Summer Concerts

2019 SUNSETS WITH A SOUNDTRACK SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

West Side of the U.S. Capitol, Washington, DC

The U.S. Army Band continues its annual tradition of presenting free concerts of Classical Pops, Big Band, Rock, and Patriotic music on the West Side of the U.S. Capitol with the series we like to call: Sunsets with a Soundtrack. The public will be allowed to place lawn chairs on the stone terrace in front of the band on the West Side of the Capitol (in front of the center fountain), and on the West Lawn (when available). Food is permitted; however, NO alcohol or glass bottles are allowed. Nearest public restrooms are at Union Station.

Dates

Concerts are weekly on Fridays (and a couple Thursdays) at 8 p.m. from June 7 through August 30 (Note: no Friday night concerts at the Capitol the week before and week of July 4) .

  • Friday, June 7 - The U.S. Army Concert Band and Army Voices
  • Friday, June 14 - The U.S. Army Concert Band and Downrange
  • Thursday, June 20 - The U.S. Army Concert Band and Army Voices
  • Friday, July 12 - The U.S. Army Band Downrange
  • Friday, July 19 - The U.S. Army Concert Band
  • Friday, July 26- The U.S. Army Voices
  • Friday, August 2 - The U.S. Army Concert Band
  • Thursday, August 8 - The U.S. Army Blues Swamp Romp
  • Friday, August 9 - The U.S. Army Blues
  • Friday, August 16- The U.S. Army Brass Quintet
  • Friday, August 23 - The U.S. Army Concert Band
  • Friday, August 30 - The U.S. Army Chorus

These performances are FREE and no tickets are required; however, group reservations, for groups of 15+ are recommended. Please email Jen Maly: jennifer.s.maly.civ@mail.mil to make a group reservation.

Directions

Our Sunsets with a Soundtrack concerts are located on the West Side of the U.S. Capitol.

Seating

The public will be allowed to place lawn chairs on the stone terrace in front of the band on the West Side of the Capitol, and on the West Lawn (when available). Food is permitted; however, NO alcohol or glass bottles are allowed.

Driving

Free public parking is available in the evenings next the Capitol Reflecting Pool at the end of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Metro

There are three subway stops found within walking distance of the Capitol:

  • Union Station - Located at First Street, NW, and Massachusetts Avenue.
  • Capitol South - Located at First Street between C and D Streets, SE.
  • Federal Center, SW - Located at the southwest corner of Third and D Streets, SW.
