Competition Eligibility
Overview:
The 2024 U.S. Army Band National Collegiate Solo Competition offers a platform for accomplished woodwind, brass, harp, and percussion instrumentalists currently studying at colleges, universities, or conservatories in the United States. As of January 1, 2024, applicants must be 27 years of age or younger.
Grand Prize:
The winner of this competition will perform as soloist with The U.S. Army Concert Band on June 7, 2024, at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. All travel expenses will be covered.
Submission Guidelines:
- Eligible submissions must feature published arrangements for soloist and band.
- Performance entries should not exceed a duration of 10 minutes. For pieces exceeding this limit, please submit a single movement or make necessary cuts to adhere to the 10-minute requirement.
- Submissions must be performed by the applicant, and recordings should remain unedited, without the use of reverb, pitch correction, or similar enhancements.
- Please ensure that the recording includes the necessary accompaniment for the audition piece.
To facilitate the evaluation process, kindly ensure that your video is accessible without requiring a login. For optimal privacy, we recommend utilizing YouTube’s “unlisted” video settings.

- Recordings must be performed by the applicant
- Recordings may not be edited or have any effects added (reverb, pitch correction, etc.)
- Please perform the entire selection
- Accompaniment is required
