The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" recently played host to hundreds of tuba and euphonium performers, students, and enthusiasts at the 28th Annual Tuba-Euphonium Conference. The event took place January 26 - 29, 2011, at Brucker Hall, the headquarters of "Pershing's Own" located on historic Ft. Myer, Virginia.

A strong winter storm delayed events on Wednesday and early Thursday, but most events went off without a hitch. Featured artists included Wycliffe Gordon and Rafi Malkiel (performing with The U.S. Army Blues); Dr. Jamie Lipton, TSgt. Willie Clark, MU1 Bryce Edwards, and Dr. Jim Self (performing with The U.S. Army Orchestra); the University of Nebraska Brass Quintet, Dr. Thomas Bough, SFC Matthew Nelson, Matthew van Emmerik, and Timothy Buzbee (performing with The U.S. Army Concert Band). In addition to the four major evening concerts, attendees were treated to 12 recitals, two master classes, and two days of exhibits at the Ft. Myer Community Center - where the public had a chance to try out some of the newest products on offer by instrument makers and retailers.

Several university low brass ensembles performed at this year's conference, including Baylor University (Waco, TX), Kansas State University, the University of Nebraska, and Alderson-Broaddus College from West Virginia.

This year's conference also hosted several international artists, representing Australia, Iceland, Germany, and Japan.
